Neptune Krill Oil (NKO™) is an extract from Antarctic krill (a shrimp-like organism) that is rich in cell membrane building blocks: highly unsaturated phospholipids co-functionalized with omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA). The phospholipid form of omega-3 is absorbed faster and more efficiently than the triglyceride form typically found in fish oil. In addition there is a wealth of antioxidants found in krill oil, including Vitamins A and E and astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is a super potent free radical scavenger and also charges your immunity by increasing antibody producing cells. In addition, it protects cells, especially in the heart and brain, by inhibiting lipid peroxidation which is a process toxic to cells leading to neuronal cell death as well as apparently contributing to arterial plaque build-up.
