DR. P.’s MEDICINAL SMOOTHIE
The following recipe is a potent blend of nutriceuticals (“medical foods”), fruit, special proteins, vegetables, vitamins/minerals, essential fatty acids and other healthy oils. In all, it represents a complete meal (i.e., a substitute or replacement for, not just a supplement to, a meal). The total calorie count approximates 550 plus whatever is in the size of your banana. You can replace the “Jay Robb” protein product with whatever else you have used.
DR. P's MEDICINAL SMOOTHIE ("goods' tastin' & goods' fur ya")
1. Acai Raspberry 100% juice (any juice of choice will do) (1/2 cup)
2. Water (1/2 cup)
3. Alka Selzer Gold (1 or 2 tabs dissolved)
4. Flax Oil with Omega 3 (1 tbls)
5. Olive Oil with Omega 3 (1 tbls)
*6. Liquid Glucosamine Complex (1 tbls) (recommended for those havng, or predisposed to, joint problems)
*7. Ultimate Greens (1 scoop)
*8. Glut Immune (1 scoop)
9. Whey protein (I use “Jay Robb's” with 25 gm protein, with varying flavors; if sick or debilitated, I recommend *ImmunoPro [1 scoop])
10. Banana
11. Frozen fruit of choice (or crushed ice) – fill with amount of your choice for texture
Add above in order and briefly blend
(note: attempt to use organic ingredients whenever possible;
PRODUCT NOTES:
- Alka Selzer Gold is used to alkalinize the drink (K-bicarb 344mg & Na-bicarb 1050mg); most of us have metabolic systems that are entirely too acidic
- Flax oil (depending on brand) may have omega-3 (alpha linolineic acid), 8gm; omega-6 (linoleic acid), 2gm; and omega-9 (oleic acid), 3gm – all considered healthy essential fatty acids
- Olive oil (depending on brand) may contain omega-3 (alpha linolineic acid), 1300mg plus the rest mostly comprising omega-9 (oleic acid)
- Liquid Glucosamine Complex contains: manganese 3mg, vitamin C 60mg, glucosamine 1500mg, chondroitin 1200mg, MSM 500mg, and hyaluronic acid 50mg (an overall excellent joint support formula)
- GlutImmune contains 4mg protein (glutamine 32% wt.) and provides excellent immune, muscle and especially, gastrointestinal (mucosal healing) support (very useful post-op or with any GI imbalance)
- Ultimate Greens is a combination product that provides 3gm protein, an abundance of “super greens,” probiotics and a number of antioxidants (of several similar products I have found on the market, I believe this is the best and most cost-effective)
